Ruby's Cottage, 70 Watson Street, Milang SA - 5256
Milang is a small township located approximately 80 kilometres from Adelaide and 22 kilometres or 15 minutes from the heritage and antiques town of Strathalbyn. On the shores of Lake Alexandrina, Milang is essentially part of the agricultural and grape growing area of the Langhorne Creek wine region with the nearest large population centres being Mount Barker and Victor Harbour. It is an easy drive to Clayton, and the south coast towns of Goolwa, Middleton and Port Elliot. The town boasts a fantastic bakery, comfortable and well patronised hotel and a popular cafe/takeaway as well as a deli and craft shop.

Ruby's
Cottage
The area was originally
inhabited by the Punguratpular people, one of the eighteen tribes which made up
the Ngarrindjeri nation.
European settlement in the district began in the 1840s as pastoralists began to
take up land between Strathalbyn and the Lake.
The township of Milang was
surveyed in December 1853 and January 1854 with the first lots being auctioned
in July 1854,
Milang prospered between 1860 and 1880 as a thriving port connecting the
riverboat trade from the Murray Darling River regions with Port Adelaide by
coach and rail.
